He is an incredible man. His decision to forgive rather than avenge the injustices he suffered has transformed South Africa. This remarkable capacity for mercy is hard to understand for anyone who has toured Robben Island, seen the rock mine that damaged his eyesight or stood in his cell, but admirable in the extreme.
