So is the book any good? Would be nice if I had a reason to read it.

Because Dave Hill wrote it and Dave Hill is very amusing.

I was just envious of his 90's Danelectro with the green sparkles.

This reminds me of music from the early 90s for some reason, which is nice.

I want more promo videos of books. Get me the head of BookTV - I want to do an one hour special that would feature music videos for current and classic books done by various artists a la "Schoolhouse Rock! Rocks".
Just a special that airs every two years or so, with a audio/video release. Give the profits to a library charity or other book-related organization. It could be the new Cliff Notes, but far more useful since it's easier to remember songs.
Jethro Tull - convert "Thick as a Brick" to cover War and Peace or maybe Paradise Lost to keep the 'little Milton'/regular Milton thing going
Guided By Voices - Confederacy of Dunces, maybe some Bukowski
Pavement - Medley of Raymond Carver stories
Phillip Glass/BrianEno/David Byrne - House of Leaves
Hawkwind - Beowulf
Ice-T - Native Son
John Spense Blues Explosion - anything Chuck Palahniuk wrote
Silver Jews - Grapes of Wrath
Bootsy Collins - The Third Life of Grange Copeland
...and many more.
C'mon, BookTV - you can preempt the time slot that has a 1 hour discussion of 'Underwear fashion of US Presidents during the Gilded Age' for this.

Now that's how you do a book trailer! Reminded me very much of Mojo Nixon.

What I'm really looking forward to is the first book from the author of the via link, Helen "Two Middle Names" Popkin, not to mention her promotional video.

Dude reminds me of Stevie from Eastbound and Down. He looks like him and the video looks like something Kenny Powers would direct

although I can't imagine why anyone would actually WANT to channel Austin Powers.
