USA for USA. A spoof of "We are the World." Probably ten years old, but I for one have never seen it before. Streaming video.
Pretty funny, but I had a hard time figuring which politicians those puppets were supposed to be besides the Bush one... Still, kind of strange to see European puppet satire of American leaders...
And damn if I don't have that song stuck in my head now...

What the Sam Kinison? These are the puppets from that old Brit show if I am not mistaken (also the Genesis video). IT seems to be GulF War Bush. All of the singeers looked and sounded like Sylvester Stallone - the typical American. Are they singing "We fought the world" or "We fu*k the world"? So the French think that we make the world a better place for the US? Maybe we should have let the Germans keep France - turn it into VW, Mercedes and BMW factories. Okay I will lay off of the French now.

So who was the dude with glasses? Looked like reagan with bi-focals or something...
Wasn't there an American political show with the same style puppets for a while? I have vague recollections of a Geraldo Rivera puppet hounding a John Sununu puppet...
Come to think of it, American TV hasn't had enough quality puppet co-stars in sitcoms since that beloved extraterrestrial scamp, Alf...

Why are Brits, Europeans, and Mexicans obsessed with creepy looking puppets doing slightly humorous things? I once was aboard a Transatlantic flight showing a Jerry Lewis movie. I shit you not, whenever Jerry did some lame slapstick, the majority of the laughter was coming from the French passengers.

Jerry Lewis also happens to be a comic genius. That's one thing I don't get when comedians wack the French for liking Jerry Lewis, as Jerry Lewis is one of the top physical comedians of all time. Not to get all off-topic or anything.

The show was called Spitting Image.
In case you were wondering or anything.
And the guy in the glasses - if he's grey all over - will be John Major, who was the prime minister from 1990 to 1997. Don't worry, we find him quite difficult to remember as well.

The USA had its own "puppets as political figures" show in the late '80s called D.C Follies. I remember a hilarious musical number they did post-Gulf War called "Can't Beat The Bush" sung by Nixon, Carter, Reagan and Ford. But I think I'm the only one who ever saw it.
There was also a "recovering dictator" skit with Idi Amin and Fidel Castro.

OK, I'm a little late here, but the name of the show is actually Les Guignols d'Info, a French show.
