What a great juxtaposition of Barbie's emblematically bland expression with the obvious postural joy.

That was fun!

Also, from the first comment on the post: "Obinna, clearly you have to remain bored for longer and you best go and collect the dolls from the trash van you threw them in because you have started a series that you must necessarily continue... you tagged this Nigerian Traditional Wedding but you must be aware that this depicts the Yoruba Traditional Wedding Ceremony and given that we have 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria, you have 249 Nigerian Traditional Weddings to showcase..." :D

Ah, Nigeria. Some day, when China is like Russia and the US is like the UK, Nigeria will stand astride the world economy and dictate terms to as all.

The photography and poses in this are great. I really love all the different black Barbie face molds the photographer was able to get together--this would not be as cool if it was a bunch of the same doll.

But. Some of the hair styles and one particular fabric choice grate on me a little, as a doll collector. It's all about proportion to the size of the doll--using human-sized hair rubber bands to make ponytails on Barbies always looks horribly wrong to me. Also, the size of the design of the white lace on the wedding outfits looks weirdly large in proportion to their bodies. Which also sticks out because almost all of the other fabric choices look great, like the tiny sequins on the pink dress the bride wears.

Anyway, that said, this looks like it was a lot of fun to put together. Also, I have the bridesmaid from the far left in the sixth picture sitting on top of my TV right now. Well, at least the same doll she's based on.

Also, here's the Black Barbie shoot from Italian Vogue that was mentioned at the beginning.

Also also here's the other Barbie and Ken wedding mentioned, but the Nigerian one is much better than this (more different dolls, better accessories, better outfits).

Yeah, like those black miniature $1,500 Louboutin gladiator platform sandals. Yes, I googled them.

Why is the Vogue website so difficult for me to figure out how to navigate?

I suspect it's because you're not going with the flow.

All you need is your own imagination
So use it that's what it's for

You're right about the Nigerian one being better, but can I just say OMG BARBIE BUNNY SLIPPERS!

Traditional Nigerian weddings include iPads?
Love the incredible care and attention to detail that went into this.
