This doesn't necessarily need a NSFW tag, but a warning about the graphic nature of one scene would've been appreciated.

Sorry -- the post, I mean. Not the video, although it might be as well...

Call me a prude, but I'd say extremely graphic violence might warrant a NSFW.

Not sure I understand, Clave. From my point of view, it's an artistic vision that's provocative and thought-provoking on multiple levels. As good art videos will tend to be. Combined with the artist being transgendered and outspoken on the subject, I'd think the post would stand up.

Not saying it doesn't -- some kind of clue as to the content would have been nice.

I generally really like Antony, but this video does nothing for me, or the song as I see it.

Mod note: Added a warning.

Wow, that video is kind of amazing, even if I did have to cover parts of the screen at a certain point.

The Future Feminism talk is also fascinating. Although I honestly doubt his conviction that major religious institutions could ever be at the forefront of embracing feminine systems of governance, or even of valuing feminine ways of being.

Interesting vid. And I mean that in a good way. But can someone explain what was actually going on there?

I've had days like that at work. I usually find a couple of beers sees me right.

Was she Willem Defoe? Or is she this Antony? Is it really a Judith and Holofernes reference? What does this have to do with transgenderism or feminism? Is it just saying that it's bad to have a secretary? Is she even his secretary? I don't understand anything about this.

I'm with cmoj. I feel like it was nicely shot and cut (pun!) but I felt like I missed something at the beginning.

Googled lyrics for the curious, may not be accurate:

for so long I've obeyed that feminine decree
I've always contained your desire to hurt me

but when will I turn and cut the world?

my eyes are coral, absorbing your dreams
my heart is a record of dangerous scenes
my skin is a surface to push to extremes

but when will I turn and cut the world?

Oh so this is what Antony sounds like? Melodramatic anthemic crap with overblown orchestrations? He has such a huge name it seems, and a big following. This is really what his stuff sounds like?

Lover of Antony that I am, I'm inclined to agree that the orchestration is really obscuring the song here, and not particularly helpful. For something a little simpler, his cover of Landslide emerges into the commercial realm next week, or even simpler than that, how about a little solo Antony?

Loved it.
Although I suspect Abramovic demanded top billing for her cameo.

If it's not worth it to you to listen to like ten minutes worth of songs on YouTube to find out for yourself, then why are you even bothering to ask? Or does not caring burnish your own self-appreciation in some vital way?

Incidentally, "melodramatic" is too often misused in a negative sense. The word has a meaning, and encompasses a wide range of work. As a dismissive term it has its own misogynistic associations -- cinematic melodramas, for example, have often unjustly derided as "women's pictures."
