So inspiring. I actually think the UFO one is my favorite - so unexpected and so, so cool. My least favorite is the hotel in NZ where the treehouses are right next to each other. Such a big part of the allure of the treehouse is to get away from it all and just be in nature - it completely ruins it that you have neighbors 20 feet away...

I always wanted a treehouse when I was a kid - now that I have kids of my own, I am seriously considering building one with them in the woods behind my house, with their input into the design and with the features they want. The only thing standing in our way is that I really don't know anything about carpentry, and I'm afraid of building something that will fall down and kill them. Hmm... maybe time to do some treehouse building plans googling...

Thank you TMOTAT for an inspiring post!

Thanks for posting this! The Terunobu Fujimori one is like something from a Miyazaki theme park ...

There's also the Suite Bleue and the Black Cabin at La Piantata, near Volterra, Italy.

Seconding the Miyazaki theme park vibe, and thank you!

More about Fujimori here, here, and especially here.

Amazing post!

I have to give a shoutout to the Garnier Limb, which is the innovation which allowed the recent flourishing in tree houses.

I feel that the lovely Gajumaru Treehouse Diner in Naha, Okinawa belongs here, too.
