The Tourist Guy found (for real this time). Two months and 10,000 remixes later, a Hungarian man has stepped forward and this photo leaves little doubt. Incidentally, it turns out the Brazilian guy was a fraud after all.

i read about this a week ago on wired.com. i tried to find the link b/c it gave a lot of information and was a good read. maybe someone else saw it and has better search skills than me.

That was likely this article I linked to above. The Brazilian guy they interviewed is not the same guy.

Here's the new Wired News article, revealing that the guy in the photo was the one who actually did the Photoshopping. Wired reporter Jeffrey Benner e-mailed me privately, saying that had the pictures on Friday, but "we didn't get the story up before he sent them to touristguy.com and they beat us to the punch."

The "tourist guy" or "Waldo" was the subject of one of the more popular post-attack hoaxes. This Snopes article explains the whole story.
