TRY NOT TO THINK ABOUT CATS

The latest of Thomas Ridgewell's (aka TomSka) animated short-humor videos has hit youtube: asdfmovie6. (link in video to previous videos)
Actually, that's unfair. My wife and I like maybe 1/10 of the shorts. Like the cats part was hilarious.

As TomSka animations go, it's no Drunk Science.

Ah, I was wondering when the next script for interacting with my junior relatives would arrive ...

The U Household children and I apparently have very, very similar tastes in humor.
The post-credits doctor bit really tickled me too. Like lots more than it should have.

Hey, not all cartoony things with stick figures and non-meaningful four-letter names can be XKCD. (Or SMBC, even though that one's an actual acronym) But you'd think that with almost a year between 2-minute movies, he'd have collected better material.

My first thought was The Demented Internet Movie (warning: pointless) from like a decade ago.

If we're talking TomSka, I feel I'm obligated to link all y'all to Baby With A Gun.
Warning: Baby with a gun.

My god! Someone else remembers that too! I use to love it. I wonder how it held up...

It's interesting how much this recapitulates pre-war animation styles, before the "cartoon" became defined by e.g. Merrie Melodies. I watch a lot of old films and one of the neat things on DVDs are out-of-copyright shorts included as extras. They're not all great, but it's interesting to see a whole "card" so to speak in one sitting.

Some say that surrealist humor is about revealing how our beliefs are just random habits that we follow out of ingrained, learned behavioral patterns.
Some say that surrealist humor is throwing random shit together.

that was okay, oneswellfoop, but asdf is a thing. It's like Monty Python for some kids today. Drop a line (examples "I like trains", "Hello, parking meter!", "No, Llama, no!") and see what happens.
