--- Interesting side note: I discovered this a month or two ago while searching for the very same Jimi Hendrix/Shotgun video that flapjax at midnight posted yesterday. Such a small interwebs world.

I had forgotten all about the Ted Mack and "The Original Amateur Hour". I may get nothing done today....

Love the brief fight-or-flight eyes on the guitarist at 1:26.
Speaking of which, three guitarists and no bass?

Ted Mack's show could be the prehistoric prototype for American Idol, The Voice, et al. But I'll forgive it, since in my opinion, it should have stopped evolving back here.

I'm scandalized by these boys and their un-tucked shirt-tails. Great find!

You never know about some of these kids that show up on amateur shows. It can be a real path to decadence and depravity.

I wonder if rhythm guitarist Ricky Mangone is the same guy as the Ricky Mangone who played drums for this metal "super" group from the 70s. Despite having two guys who made their names in Detroit, they seem to have been based in NYC. At the very least, that's where they cut their record.
