"#1: I don't dress like anyone but myself. #2..."

In which Hart, a vlogger, responds to a question she is commonly asked: "If you love women so much, how come you don't dress like one?"
That was a wonderfully over the top response to a completely idiotic question. Well done.

Whoa; I'd never heard of Hart before but as a woman who struggles a ton with my body, my body image, and my relationship with femininity in general, that was really amazing to see. It didn't look brave when she did it because it seemed very natural but it would take all my courage to do anything like that EVER and whether it took bravery or was easy for her it was awesome and a big deal for me. Thanks for posting this!

That was brilliant - much better than my response which would have been something like 'are you saying straight men should be in dresses?'

I've been watching this video every time I lose my temper. It's impossible to be angry with that awesome sax tune and her melon boogie.

Oh, man. The look she gives the camera while she's eating that watermelon slice. It's like she's hijacked the Emergency Broadcast System with her eyes to broadcast a warning that shit is about to get real.

(I actually love watermelon. Maybe that's part of what's funny.)

Classy, stylish and funny. She gave that question more effort than it deserved. But good on her.

For contrast:
Georgie Weiss: You're a fruit?
Edward D. Wood, Jr.: No, not at all. I love women. Wearing their clothes makes me feel closer to them.

jb: Yes, yes it was. I wish I could listen to entire songs made of that style of sax, rather then that one loop, but I don't know anything about the genre so don't know where to look.

Stupid question, obviously besides dressing for yourself, you dress in a way that will attract the people you like.

See, this is one of those things that makes evident the utter silliness of women's roles and "feminine traits" as defined by society.
Witch is an insult.
Magician is a profession.
Mind-reading is hocus pocus.
Dressing in a way that one mind-reads will attract men or even more mysteriously "the people you like" is desirable and expected of women.
Not sure why it doesn't follow that dressing for oneself would mean being able to trust that people attracted to that, are genuinely attracted. So, there is no need to "also" dress for the unknown.

I watched it again this morning, and then I realized, maybe I shouldn't watch this in my cube at work. Not sure I could explain it to anyone who happened to walk by.

What made you jump to the conclusion that only women dress to attract the people they like? Seems to me that the male fashion industry is also very much about this.

butch women (queer or not) dress the way they do to please themselves. And those of us who think boyish or butch women are hot aren't complaining.
