Elaine Stritch Is Really Not Thrilled About Her Golden Years (June 2013), but she's making it work (September 2013). A documentary about her life will premiere this fall. In the meantime, perhaps you'd be interested in the Elaine Stritch Alarm Clock?

I love Elaine Stritch. I performed with her about 10 years ago at Carnegie Hall. The conductor told her she could speak for two minutes before singing; she went on speaking for about 12, and our chorus had to pay big bucks for going over the time limit.

The last link is golden.

It was strange to see her so very frail on the later seasons of 30 Rock.

National. Treasure. Looking forward to seeing that documentary.

Timely. Last night during the mostly god awful Emmy telecast, I had reason to check out Ellen Burstyn's Wikipedia page and came upon this fact:

In 1986, Burstyn starred in her own ABC television situation comedy, The Ellen Burstyn Show costarring Megan Mullally as her daughter and Elaine Stritch as her mother; it was canceled after one season.

I'm sure this 13 episode series wasn't worth this cast since I'd never even heard of it, but if anyone has any memories of it, please let me know.

That alarm clock clip is going straight into my iOS device to start waking me up.

I may have it flip-flop between that and "I'm Still Here," though.

Love that lady.

Elaine Stritch is difficult and amazing, and that she might die in a suburban condo just makes my heart hurt.

"I don't really know, I've been too busy falling down."

I have to remember that one ...

Thanks so much for this!

Well, I was *sure* she was dead, so that shows you what I know.

“It’s like a comedy,” she adds, “only a not so funny one.” A 10-word description of getting older.

Elaine Stritch Alarm Clock? Saw 'em at the Fillmore back in '68. Definitely not reliving that bad acid trip again, man.

Her interview on Alec Baldwin's radio show/podcast Here's The Thing was most enjoyable.

This woman has brought so much absolute joy and delight into my life that the very idea that she is suffering ill health reminds me that life is not fair. Truly an amazing, talented human being.

Man, I would hate to see the showdown that clock would have with my Stephen fry clock. I would probably wake up 10 minutes early to avoid it.

I remember watching a few episodes--didn't think they were great, but Elaine's character could be a hoot. The one scene I remember was the one where Elaine was teaching some little kids to sing a raunchy sailor's song, to "prepare them for life".

Mea culpa, did not remember the little bits of Russ Myerism at the moment.
