Do What They Say And Everything Will Be Okay

I couldn't believe it was real, and was betting that it must be the most incredibly straight-faced satire. And then they mentioned "Jesus", and my hopes crumbled and I knew that it was sincere.

Things will not turn out well for these children.

Not many people realize that the waltz was considered to be transgressive and scandalous in its time. I think the act of rocking, or purporting to rock, is now very nearly as tame as the waltz.

This video makes me sublimely uncomfortable. Those poor kids! At least they don't seem to have parents throwing them out there like Richard Heene. Their web presence, as far as I can tell, is this one video.

We used to have a running joke that many things once considered society-destoryingly subversive would not be out of place on a Seniors cruise ( waltzing! Yoga! Vegetarianism! Chiropractors!)

The authorities did not tell these children that things on the internet are there forever.

I have frequently said that those who teach young people to "Question Authority" become the first authorities to be questioned...

My sister is the kind of mother who forces her children to listen to songs like this. . .at least until they were old enough to operate the stereo on their own. Her children are not obedient.

Hmm.

I prefer the old (home)school version of this song.

Some kids do as they please
They don't know what life really means

Some kids think their parents are cruel
Just because they want them to obey certain rules

I hope those kids had permission to be up on that roof.

I love to see the same group perform the same song once a year for the next 30 years.

Wow. It would be like a bizarro version of the Up-Series documentaries.

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot tapping to the beat of a catchy kids band's song — forever.

I don't know what's better: the way it starts out and you think it's just some suburban punks learning to put their tongues in their cheeks until you realize that no, they're sincere; or is it the way the chorus is sung so dead-eyed and off-key that it becomes like some sort of buzzing drone chant that can't help but hypnotize you.

What's that mom? Yes ma'am, whatever you say.
