Any chance of subtitles for the mono-lingual?

To be honest, I kinda found the language made the entire piece more compelling. I have a lot of questions about it, but somehow it was just cooler to me not fully understood.

I noticed they didn't include the cover for Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue", for obvious reasons, which MeFi's Own waxpancake will tell you.

Great idea, well done. I liked the varied "condition" of the covers, a few discolored, several with circular wear. I have mixed feelings about the aspect ratio, though -- it's prettier widescreen but makes a lot less visual sense, particularly with that disc wear pattern seeming to argue for a square format.

Yes. For the obvious reason that this project is about iconic Blue Note album covers, and Kind of Blue, like all Miles Davis albums of the era, was on Columbia.

Blue Note is associated with artists working in the Hard Bop style -- Miles had left Bop for Cool years before and Kind of Blue was his announcement of the arrival of Modal. In the context of the time, there'd hardly be a more unlikely match, though lots of Miles' sidemen ended up on Blue Note.

I was expecting to see Horace Silver's Song for My Father. Maybe it's too sunny.

Nice work, otherwise.

Here's Barack Obama on Blue Note.

EmpressCallipygos: "Any chance of subtitles for the mono-lingual?"

As near as I can tell (my French is rusty):
"Hey, hep cats, dig it. I'm going to lay down some powerful images. You cats all have these way-gone platters, dig? Well, I'm about to do some powerful Hollywood all over these Blue Notes, baby. Sit back and chill... Peace and love to all you crazy kids out there!"

Well, anyway, that's what I thought I heard.
