WIND

WIND is an animated short about the daily life of people living in a windy area who seem helplessly exposed
to the weather. However, the inhabitants have learned to deal with their difficult living conditions.
The wind creates a natural system for living.
That is so strange. I'd swear I saw this via MeFi a few days ago, but I can't find the post. Ah well, good to see it here again. There's so much great animation on Vimeo nowadays.

I wonder if anyone has forwarded this to Larry Niven -- one of his Known Space worlds is dubbed We Made It (the first ship there crash-landed), and in his tradition of oddball planetary conditions, is aligned on its axis such that half the year it suffers from 500-mph winds. His frequently-revisited character Beowulf Shaeffer is a Crashlander, but apparently other than this accident of birth, Niven couldn't work out any stories set there.

I'm having a hard time believing the animator's coursework at HAW would not have included watching Ivan Maximov's Wind Along the Coast, which sets the precedent (and bar) for this conceit...
