Phantasy Star II's american cover would fit in well here I think.

Wow. I have a few of these. The 60s and 70s are probably my favorite era for SF cover arts; a wonderfully mysterious interregnum between pulp literalism and our modern literalism, from a period where we realized that the possibilities were more interesting than ray guns and rockets and monsters and imagination began to run riot.

I would like to decorate my house with the work of John Berkey someday.

I love these. I think I still have a copy of The Left Hand of Darkness with that cover somewhere.

I'm a little confused by the inclusion of a PDP-11 manual in there though.

The tumblr-author/compiler noticed this thread and posted the cover.

The Fabio Feminò collection would also fit in well here I think.

Huh, Clifford Simak. I'd forgotten entirely about him.

The flying eyes by J. Hunter Holly. I read that book in the early 90s. It was fun.

I can't look at these pieces without this soundtrack playing in my head.

Simak wrote in an interesting pastoral style that doesn't really have any current equivalent. Way Station and City are considered his best works, if you are looking for a place to start.

Yeah, I read a bunch of his stuff thirty-five years ago but hadn't really thought about him since.

That's how the ants and the dogs end up taking over the earth.

This is great. Reminded me that the old '80s computer mags used to commission occasionally amazing original cover art (and then obscure it with text and covertapes). Oliver Frey's Red Moon cover for Crash is an absolute classic. (More covers here FWIW. Click on a thumbnail, then on the next page's thumbnail for full size)
