Of course, I managed to forget one - Such Great Heights by Chaila (footage from Wall-E)

I'm putting this here not because it's a small fandom but because it's one of the best ones of these things I've ever seen. Hannibal + Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, Get Creative.

My favorites:

Call the Midwife - Black Flowers: A lovely look at the show and Shelagh's journey set to Massive Attack's Teardrop, an unexpectedly perfect song choice.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries - Sexyback: Another surprisingly perfect song choice and a super fun look at the series.

Ozarks, not Appalachia. Although parts of both bear uncanny resemblances to rural Afghanistan....

Whoops. Totally mixed up the locations of Winter's Bone and Hunger Games. I blame Jennifer Lawrence.

Part of the weirdness and fun of something like festivids is that you often end up watching fanvids for media that you might not have seen before. And, unlike the majority of yuletide stories, the media is usually accessible to newbies - you might not get the full nuance of characterization or the symbolism involved in some of the shots, but it still can be enjoyable in its own right.

This is to say that I haven't seen Call the Midwife yet (despite the fact that netflix thinks I should watch it), but now I want to.

Also, I made everyone I know watch that lego star wars 9 - 5 video. Everyone. No matter what their feelings are on Legos, Star Wars, or Dolly Parton.

Yes! I love these posts.

That Sleepy Hollow one is incredibly well-edited.

And i'm so glad you gifted us with the Hannibal video, Whelk. I say without reserve that it will be the best thing I see all damn week. Cackling.

Awesome!

But y'all missed Mr. Collins from Pride and Prejudice as Superfly. So fantastic.

I feel kind of weird saying this here, but I have a couple of Festivids in there. Not trying to hit-count bait or anything so I won't post links, but one of them was the result of an Ask I posted looking for a type of song that would convey the feeling I wanted in the style I wanted. So Metafilter at least helped create one vid in there!

And yeah, suelac, that Pride & Prejudice vid to Superfly was one of my absolute favorites this year. Brilliant.

It's up to your comfort level and preferences, but I don't necessarily think it's hit count bait to self-link in a thread when the thread's about what you created in the first place. It happens in the yuletide threads, and I'd be interested.

The Pride and Prejudice one was one of my favorites, too. Oh god, the dancing. I don't think my brain will ever recover. It's pretty amazing, because while I love the Pride and Prejudice miniseries to bits, it's not the most visually interesting thing in the world.

Sleepy Hollow is plenty pretty on its own, but yeah - wow. It reminded me of the opening sequence of the X-files the first time I watched it, only with much better definition. Not to mention the number of clips that were from the finale, which meant the vidder managed the metabolize the visuals enough to work them into their vid and had time to actually make it look great, all in the week of reveals.

Well, I made the two Happy Endings vids this year. The one for Best Day of My Life was the song idea I got from the green.
