I jumped to read this upon seeing the word Baroque.
It is not Baroque, although it is baroque, but that is not a mark against it. I like it a lot. It's gorgeous shimmery pop, which is a thing that I like as well.
These young people may remain on my lawn.

Saw them in october. Good show, fun to see people workin' hard at stuff. The guitar could've been louder. :) The drum parts are really amazing, since the time signatures are all bouncing around music-school mathy.

Aside: Broke/Baroque puns are the best puns.

Please, with the "baroque" this and "baroque" that. As good as this may be, and that's entirely up to the listener.. there's nothing baroque about this.

It really does get harder to stay in touch with new bands, as you slide into middle age, and it's always nice to get the news....this site is pretty good for that

Sounds like on Daedalus that they enjoy their Sufjan Stevens as well. Nice find.

Baroque pop is a thing (although I've always preferred the "chamber pop" tag). As far as how the term is currently used in pop music, this band seems to working in that tradition.
Whether or not Baroque pop has anything to do with the historically Baroque is likely as irrelevant as asking one of the New Romantics how they feel about Percy Shelley.
I'm totally psyched for Rocococore, by the way

San Fermin is the type of band I seek out immediately upon first listen. "Crueler kind" invoked in me that intense need to know WHO IS THAT?!

I think it was BoingBoing that mentioned the Audiotree session with San Fermin, back in October. It blew me away. The version of Sonsick from that session was for me the definitive recording of that piece, but then again I have an ear-crush on the new singer.
But it so happens that TODAY, San Fermin were the guest musical artists on CBC's Q, and they put down a version of Sonsick that I think might be even better. The sound is maturing just a little.
Tasty stuff. These kids do not have to get offa my lawn.
