Brian Cox meets Brian Cox.

Actor Brian Cox meets Professor Brian Cox. After having been mistaken for one another for years, even to the point of apparently being invited to events when the other was expected, the two Brian Coxes hadn't previously met. Now here they are bumping into one another live on camera at the Empire Film Awards (on YouTube).
Brian Coxes? Brian Coxi? Brain Coxopodes? Brians Cox?

Just a couple of days ago I sat down to watch an episode of QI with guest "Brian Cox", and instead of the shouting I expected I got clever comments about science. It was momentarily quite confusing.

I think a "Brain Coxopode" would have the brains of the Brians Cox for feet. And that would not be right.

Given the current fluffle over the Hannibal series it's amusing to note that Brian Cox (the actor) was the first person to ever play Hannibal Lecter in a movie, before either Sir Hopkins or Mads back in 1986.

This is wonderful. Dare I hope this is the dawning of a new Sir Ian and Sir Patrick style of friendship?

Brian Cox is one of my favorite QI quests; I wonder if the other Brian Cox might ever be on the show.

Looks like that show is being hosted by YoungAmerican's UK doppelganger, Jesse Thorne-with-an-e.

This made me smile and also reminded me I haven't yet listened to the most recent episode of Infinite Monkey Cage. So, thanks.

Not really (they never do meet), but yeah, that goof-up is what I immediately thought of too.

Brian Coccyx.
> [Prof.] Brian Cox is one of my favorite QI quests; I wonder if the other Brian Cox might ever be on the show.
I thought that he had, but I realized that the bit I remembered the actor saying was on his appearance on the Top Gear "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segment (YT: 9:11), when he drove an unfortunate 2:01.0 in the Chevy Lacetti on a dry track. Professor Cox has not been on Top Gear, yet.
Ideally they should both be on QI at the same time, followed by both appearing on Top Gear to take a turn in the Vauxhall Astra.

I was thinking Bryan Brown, that guy from F/X and Cocktail. From the video, I see that it is in fact Brian "Blackbriar/Treadstone" Cox.

Brian Cox (the actor) was the first person to ever play Hannibal Lecter in a movieAnd he was very, very good.
He plays Lecter as he sees himself, not as the monster we see and it's all the more terrifying.
The way he talks about God killing his worshippers as though he's a peer is both absurd and horrifyingly real at the same time.
One of my very favourite actors and incredibly underrated.

Rather short segment in a long video-- practically a Cox-tease.
