Rivers Cuomo produced by fans. Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has been chatting with his fans about their new album. So far so usual. Except it hasn't been released yet and they've been listening to the rough cuts via mp3.
Arg. Spelling. Sorry.

Bon Jovi used to do that back in the '80s, they'd round up a bunch of fans and have a listening session in a cafe or a diner.

What does it matter if your song doctors work for free or not?

I'm sure people have done this before but isn't the process cool? Looking through all those emails, seeing how the thoughts developed and listening to the songs on their website. Nice. Although there's alot to be said for hiding yourself in a studio and unleashing the finished product onto the world.

I think that would be a great job, and the concept itself seems really great.. who'd have thought, a big time band directly in contact with the fans during production of their album.. I hope it's as good as the Blue album or Pinkerton.

A mid level punk band (I'm pretty sure it was Samiam) did the same thing using MP3.com a few years back.
Cuomo should have done this with the green album. Yech.

Apparently some fans also figured out where Rivers lives. Was posted earlier on the =W= boards but has now disappeared.

UNcool. of all the people to do this to, I think Weezer fans would know better.
I don't have a lot of faith in this method, relying so heavily on feedback from the fans - who is writing the material? But then again, I was hugely dissappointed in the green album, so maybe this might help.

...which is why the post was removed, and I thought it was proper that the post was removed. Sorry I didn't make that clear, I was trying to present a fact.

As it should be, I am just dissappointed that someone would do the legwork to figure it out, then post it in the first place. Rivers is notoriously private, and this was a pretty malicious act. I hope nobody caught it and acted on it, i.e. showed up near there to "run into him".
