Nokia's new subsidiary - Vertu - lays out its plans to combat street crime by developing undesirable mobile phones.
Sounds like what Reebok has been doing with their shoes.

I'm confused. Or maybe just stupid.
Where exactly is the information about undesirable phones? The only things in both of the above articles remotely undesirable were the fact that a diamond-studded phone would be damn ugly, and cold in the winter.

It's actually called a lame joke, Su. Don't feel bad.
If I saw someone with a diamond encrusted cell phone, I'd steal it out of general principle. I'd expect the same from the rest of you. It'd be one big cell phone stealin' free for all.

What status does a diamond encrusted phone give you?
Stupid and tacky.

i have been struck with how both the most fashionable and your common mall teen tote the same hip new nokia.
phones are over. hip/cool/cutting-edge is disabled when washer-women-like fellow bus waiters speak in a high voice into it to tell her sista to 'shut up!'
cool is what other people can't have, like japanese domestic phones, except we all don't know that they have shitty coverage (in japan).
so bravo vertu, why is it fun and not to be ashamed of to consume inferior throw away goods at walmart and loathsome to consume designer cell phones?

Q. How much should I spend on a mobile phone?
A. We here at Vertu suggest two months' salary.

Dhartung, my co-workers want to know why I'm laughing. You've demonstrated that brevity is the soul of wit.
