"Male privilege is “I have a boyfriend” being the only thing that can actually stop someone from hitting on you because they respect another male-bodied person more than they respect your rejection/lack of interest."

This post was deleted for the following reason: I respect and appreciate that harassment is lousy and this might be a good remedy. At the same time, a SLBOE about how women need to deal with street harassment is basically like saying "Internet people: fight" and that doesn't make a good post for MetaFilter. -- jessamyn

Figurative horse shit. I don't want to bust her bubble, but it is generally known that "I have a boyfriend" means "I may or may not have a boyfriend but I am definitely not interested" and is an easy out for everyone. Some men still don't get the drift? Big shocker, some women in bars are slow to take "no" too.
