Mirror shades, satanism, cyborgs, hover bikes... it has it all!

The video for Perturbator's (previously) She is Young She is Beautiful is an amalgam of Gothic horror, cyberpunk science-fiction, late 80s anime aesthetics, post-apocalytpic Miami and the best parts of b-movie cinema. All done up in a pixel art style reminiscent of the classic Out of This World (recently) series of adventure games.

Reminds me of every late eighties videogame I've ever played.

I found this quite enjoyable.

Very, very cool.

The first half reminded me of Hardwired, by Walter Jon Williams - which was one of my favorites growing up.

In fact, the whole damned thing made me nostalgic for my early teen years, when a friend of my Dad's handed me a copy of Neuromancer and forever changed the way I looked at the world.

(Perturbator made some of the songs for the soundtracks of Hotline Miami 1 & 2, by the way).

If that car was black, it would be exactly what I imagine Hiro Protagonist delivering pizzas in.

Thanks for not calling it '8-bit'. Seems like every day I see something that looks like that described as such by someone who clearly has no idea what 8-bit graphics looked like.

gallonOfAlan, I saw a recent debate (either here or on reddit) about that.

according to the debate, "8-bit" can refer to both the 8-bit color palette, featuring 256 possible colors, or the "8-bit era" palette, featuring 64 (give or take) colors.

Nice stuff. At the 3:23 mark I was surprised to see a cybernetic army of Vic Rattleheads.

Hmm ... I suspect most of the writers on various sites who are slinging the term '8-bit' around just saw it somewhere else and regurgitate it. '8-bit' for gamers means Commodore 64 / Atari 800 et al.

Reminds me of every late eighties videogame I've ever played.

Bruce Lee
Ghosts and Goblins
Ninja Gaiden
Space Harrier

I think the 80's are coming back more and more as people realize what a gloriously unabashedly weird decade that was. I can't wait. It's going to be magnificent. I hear it in music too. I started seeing A bunch of 80's tumblrs. Oh man I can't wait.

I lived through the 80s once.
I will not be doing it again.
Put down the airbrush and roll down your fucking sleeves or I swear to god there'll be trouble.

If you're feeling nostalgia for the lost decade of the 19A0s, check out Mitch Murder, or Com Truise.

i love me some mitch murder.

Did I get my "8-bit era" wrong? I guess that makes it even more stark of a difference!

There is nothing I don't like about this video.

I'm with fullerine. I thought I was ok with the 80s neoretro music until my last mushroom trip where Com Truise just drove me away from the genre altogether. These synths only sound ugly as hell to me now. Kill it with global thermonuclear war.

What if we added, like, a shitload of tenor sax?

I don't care what y'all haters think, I just bought the I Am the Night album linked to in the previous post. Bloody good fun it is too.

What a bummer that Molly Millions never made it to the big screen.

As much as I disagree with you, fullerine, I like your style.

It look like something from the Demoscene. To be honest there aren't enough vectors to really make it look like Another World.
