Frustrated with being denied a UK visa due to "the situation in [their] country", Middle Eastern artist Saint Hoax shifts the situation to Agrabah.

Usually if you're going through the trouble of applying for a visa you're not seeking asylum. I'm not sure if defections are still a thing.
From past visa experiences I have had to write or talk about my plans to return home once I'm done.

Then I must be rather dense about the artist's statement in their work. I thought it was meant to be critical of the UK's visa and immigration policy (which is often poor), but instead doesn't seem to read to be about anything but their feelings on being denied a visa. I suppose that's legitimate, but still.
