Message to you Rudy this article is very anti Guiliani. Now as a brit I vaguely rememember Rudy first of all being disliked and then unloved and this article brings it all back.
Post 11/9 though he took on hero status even in this house, his first press conference my Mrs said "aww he looks just like Harold Lloyd," how cool is that? Plus alongside Bush he really is iconic ,truly.
My point is,has the backlash begun,it seems to have in the U.K,particularly with the "x.ray "camp coverage.
Are we at last being allowed to ponder the imponderables? Like are we really that holy?
You read the Guardian and you're asking if the backlash has begun???

I'm not sure if I read it right, but it seems like they were saying David Dinkins was on par with Rudy. Hah.

I'm not a Giuliani fan, but this is just ridiculous — Louima admitted that he was lying when he claimed that the cops ever said "It's Giuliani time".

nicwolff - Not a Giuliani fan either, but the Guardian article refers to the Haitian immigrant that was sodomized with a plunger handle as "Albert Louima", and the other better known Haitian immigrant that was sodomized with a plunger handle (your link) was Abner Louima.
Either that, or the guardian's fact checkers suck. Sheesh.

Well the Grauniad was never known for its spelling prowess.

A "pointless pot-shot," indeed. Seems to me that this "report" is pure sensationalism, with no aim other than to draw attention/spike sales. Oh, and to put us 'Murricans in our place, of course. Silly Guardian.

The man is certainly a mixed bag. He's no liberal, but then he was a centrist Republican of the type that used to be quite common in the Northeast. They usually can't aspire to national office, though -- Bush I got in mainly through his Texas credentials and Reagan coattails. Giuliani may get a pass now because he really did personify the tough-as-nails spirit of the city when he was needed. Some may scoff, but there are times we need leaders, and he was actually doing a better job than Dubya there for a little while.
