Are all outdoor picnic pests called "bees" in Britain, or is this just a DHMIS-ism?

Watching all three of those in a row permanently broke my brain. Thank you.

Wasn't there an AskMe recently about bees vs. wasps vs. hornets and it seems like British people just call everything bees.
source: married to a British person who spilled beer on me in a flailing panic about a "bee" one day in Amsterdam.

There was a documentary I saw about 30 years ago, presented by Jim Henson, about a convention of puppeteers, which included a bunch of performances by other groups. Of course, the Muppets performed, too, and one of the best things they did was Fozzie and Kermit. Fozzie says, "Don't look down! There's someone beneath me!" Kermit says, "Of course. that's a puppeteer. We're puppets." Fozzie's response was something like, "I can't understand that concept." (I'm not presenting it well; the real thing was hilarious.)

I learned a lot.
I learned that That green is not a creative color.
That answers so many questions...

I think it's a DHMISism - I certainly haven't noticed it in about a decade of living here.

They also think they wear bonnets.

Americans do the same thing. Watching people screaming about bees while looking at a paper wasp nest is always a laugh. Hell, my fellow countrymen don't even understand that a yellowjacket is not a bee.

I'll have to rewatch this to see if the notepad and the clock made cameos.
PS there are ships of the notepad and the clock -- scroll to "Sequel."

Update: Notepad and Clock make cameo at around 4:40, with the yellow guy's dad, as well as the other two main characters (the bird and and the red-haired mop thing).
