Superheroes and other pop culture icons photographed in the style of Flemish paintings, by Sacha Goldberger (previously known for his true superhero grandmother Mamika, who is also featured in the superhero series).
I'm pretty sure these are just the ruff sketches.

Art history is for suckers. "The Flemish style" just means the people have big ass ruffled collars and are in front of a brown backdrop.

I spent some time in Ghent a couple years ago and can confirm that this is legit.

Many years from now, after we are dead, trendy kids will "do internetting", in which they gather in large rooms to stare at glowing walls while yelling at each other. In the way they believe their forebears had.

The Spider-Man one is actually pretty close to Spider-Man 1602. (Don't judge me I just read it in hopes of good Elizabethan Spidey-banter.)

The Iron man one is impressive, but the iron mask, the armour thing were clearly borrowed to the past when the character was first created. The feeling that the picture shows some kind of Chimera built of parts originating from different spaces and times emphasizes the feeling that this creature is a sort of (somehow threatening) time hound, living in a lynchian limbo.

These photos are what 21st century people think Flemish/Elizabethan/Renaissance* art looks like. This makes the photos interesting - self-referential and a commentary upon themselves - but it does not make them good because I seriously doubt the photographer set out to make them a meta-commentary of 21st mainstream art appreciation.
