Shark Cats, portraits of terror

"It was a normal day when I grabbed my sketchpad and began to doodle. What came out was little scribbles of a horrible little creature: the Shark Cat. The initial design was based on the thresher shark. I found that the short face and extremely large eyes worked well with the cat aesthetic. However, as I kept sketching, I noticed that almost any shark species could be adapted." Shark Cats, portraits of terror, by concept artist/illustrator Brynn Metheney, who has more work on her Instagram account. (Not to be confused with the cat in a shark costume on a Roomba, previously).
Whatever you do, do not point this soul-revealing camera at Ann Coulter.

I thought it was going to go the other way, with cat faces on shark bodies. But these are great! After all, what is the difference between a cat and a shark? One is a mindless, relentless carnivore, and the other lives in the sea.
We call our cats the Tawny Landsharks when they circle underfoot relentlessly at dinnertime.

With all the dermal denticles, petting a Shark Cat would be painful, even before the claws and teeth came into play

You know the thing about a cat, he's got...lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eye. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be livin'. Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin' and the carpet turns red and spite of all the poundin' and the hollerin' they all come in and rip you to pieces.

Finally, a thread where I can link to my husband's co-worker who creates owl/cat gifs that she calls Meowls. I LOVE THEM AND I LOVE SHARK CATS.

She also made an endearing animation of the shark-cat on a Roomba, bringing it full circle.
