The Taylor-Morse Collection

Wesley Morse is best known for the early Bazooka Joe comics and the occasional smutty Tijuana Bible (link not safe for work!) however, an accidental archive has been made of another of his projects: trying to woo actress Avonne Taylor.
Avonne Taylor was a Ziegfeld Folly and minor film actress, who ultimately did not count Morse amongst her many husbands.

I came across a cache of Tijuana Bibles at a flea market recently, and the seller claimed that many, of not most, of the Tijuana Bibles in the 20's to the 50's were drawn by women and distributed by women. Just a data point, but an interesting one to be sure.

Having seen the Tijuana Bibles I somewhat doubt many were drawn by women just from the ignorance of female anatomy often portrayed. I think even the Wesley Morse 8 pagers were being misattributed for a while to a team of lesbian roommates... Maybe it was just a cover story that made the books sell better?
