Ooh! I've seen this. It's a wonderful film, a thrilling, romantic evocation of a time and place. And the parts that are the most memorable for me feature people I'd never heard of before, like backup dancers and local musicians. So good.

Awesome. I really enjoyed When We Were Kings so I just watched this.
The behind-the-scenes segments in this are really, really great.
There's an interesting scene where Miriam Makeba gets bumped around the schedule because apparently the organizers didn't want too much "local" music back-to-back.
At the beginning of her performance, she says something like:
"People call me Miriam Makeba, but that's not really my name. It's actually Zenzile [plus her remainder of her name in Xhosa, I'd guess]. The colonizers of our home, Africa, they call this 'The Click Song' because they don't know how to say 'Qongquothwane'."

The only thing wrong with this movie is it's too short. The included performances are so great but somewhere there are hours and hours of footage that I would love to see.
As I recall, BB's "Thrill is Gone" is especially thrilling.
