So very true. Let's set up and create a me too social networking app called 'Plismo' or 'Freffle' or something, then sit round on MacBooks doing very little of value in whatever this week's trendy scripting language is.

I particularly like the job titles.

Also, briefly contemplated whether Farmen (find local farmers!) Might work...

I think they must be in the same incubator as Complainty, but are predicting a totally different market direction than YellLink, Terrifyin, and Death

The question I have is whether when a company actually has a given business plan tries to patent one of these fake businesses types, does the existence of this count as a pre-existing work?

Every six months or year something like this reminds me slashdot still exists, and i'm surprised again. I keep figuring it went the way of digg and at the very least got sold out to just be some generic clickbait linkfarm.

ARRRGHGH! This is spot on and it makes me sad. This is what client after client sees and wants. Nothing original in web design no mo.'

I hope this paradigm ends soon.

I went to the website but clicked away when I discovered that I would have to do something. : (

Does this website have a use or are they just trying to make a point? If they are trying to make a point, a couple of well-written paragraphs should suffice.

This is a breakthrough in itself... Satire by algorithm. The creators could replace the writers of Saturday Night Live and generate funnier scripts than they do now. If they hadn't already announced Jon Stewart's replacement on The Daily Show, a news-fed algorithm would've made him totally unnecessary.

Nah. The satire is the algorithm.

The real joke is that a small JavaScript program can generate plausible-looking startup websites.

It has ended really because touch interfaces are so much better now than websites, and these sites only exist to advertise an app. Websites look like these auto-generated ones because people don't really like using websites any more and touch interfaces actually look a bit like the future we were all promised in the 50s.

There are even worse horrors out there in sites like eBay and Amazon which are just littered with hundreds of buttons and text all over the place. It suddenly looks very old fashioned.
