This one would have been perfect for the rural english horrors thread last week.

They said no one would buy a solar-powered, handheld device made entirely of recycled parts... and now, one in every twenty five humans owns a uMaster... why? It makes your life easy. So take charge... and remember, uMaster makes you the master!

Yeah, don't anthropomorphize things like that, or you're going to have a bad time eventually. Learned that when my bike got stolen some years ago and I wasn't so much angry as heartbroken and guilty that I had let it down by not locking it up better.

of course I still do it with bikes. can't help it.

But they want to be anthropomorphized!

Reminds me of Buy One Now by the brilliant — and criminally unknown — Stars in Battledress:
Get on, go out
Buy one —
You know why,
and you know how.

If they know who
says "You need one",
then you need one now.

If they say
"Walk that way",
"Walk that way"
is what they mean.

If they've seen a
must-have,
a must-have
they must-have seen.

So don't save up
this time, don't wait.
Buy one now
before it's too late.

Cos you know that you need one —
it must be that sort.
Buy one now
before the stocks run short.

Goliath might be a book I give for Christmas for a few years. I think I've given everyone I buy gifts for "The Sparrow" already, and Goliath really was beautiful.

Also, You're All Just Jealous of my Jetpack made me laugh far too loudly a few times. (It is far, far too short, though)

Love Tom Gauld. Bought the book. Obviously the Amazing New Thing is too new for that book so I eagerly await Book 2.0.
