In general this technique is called hydrographics or water transfer printing, lots of good videos out there.

Ok so on the full-body cat they paint, the last dip it goes into -- watch for the paint that goes onto its ear... and then its second ear. Very cool.

This is kind of interesting... there's a nail art technique that seems to work on the same principle. The first time I saw it I was surprised that it worked.

This is very cool! It's like paper marbling but not abstract and not for a flat surface.
