Oh man. I should probably be bent out of shape about this, given that I have "digital strategy" in my job title, but I love it too much to do such a thing.

And with this, we reach both Peak Tumblr and Peak GIF.

There's something comforting in knowing I'm at the end of my career, and will never have to utter any of those terms in any manner other than in derisIon.

I thought this was going to be a multiracial effort featuring angry male math teachers.

I thought this was going to be about diversity

Yeah, I was totally expecting Photoshop images of people of color inserted into scenes from Mad Men, presumably to make some sort of satirical point about the show or the 1960s or advertising or whatever. I was expecting it so much that when I saw the actual Tumblr it took me way too long to figure out what I was looking at.

I can certainly imagine Don Draper doing a pitch about Tumblr:

It's delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek, ベーパーウェーブ literally means "the evaporation from a transfer of energy." It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This aesthetic isn't retro, it's a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards... it takes us to a place where we hoped to never go again. It's not called vintage, it's called ▽▲P●RW▲▽E. It let's us travel the way a millennial travelled the web when he was a child - GIFs repeating around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved.

Sweet, that's me sorted for replying to my colleague's emails for the next six months.
