In nekoatsume something like this would cost at least 40 gold sardines.

There seem to be only three cats, so I guess getting BINGCAT! is impossible.

When they get to the back row, do they power up for greater movement options?

You have to wait until the one cat stops doing his hand dance routine, then a few more cats appear.

I've never put real money into Nekoatsume, but if this was available...

I like when they just sit in the box and stare at you with that dumb cat face cats have.

Now glue the opposite edges to each other for an infinite wrap-around grid of cats!

(What, you don't have space-bending non-Euclidean glue? Oh well.)

I'm pretty sure most of those jump cuts are just where they started bopping each other on the head.

You have to be careful because if you get three similar cats in a row they explode which, yes, makes room for more cats, but . . . Yuck.

There's a game mechanic in here somewhere, goddamnit.

Um, guys, the account is "9cats". In the about section, the names of all nine cats are listed.

With nine cats, you pretty much _have_ to start arranging them in some kind of grid.

There's a joke in here somewhere about unionized cats and fat cats but I just can't find it.

BEST GAME OF 2048 EVER.

Also, in nekoatsume the special cat for this item would be Maru and he would just sit and stare from the box with phunniemee's dumbcatface.

This would only serve to emphasize nekoatsume's greatest flaw: The lack of animation for special cats.

At least one of those moves was illegal.

I imagine that the cuts leave out the dark side: someone starts a scrap over the wall, which results in vertical leaps, mad scrambles and boxes flying everywhere.

And then the cats are back in their boxes again.

In the kanji for cat (猫), the radical (犭) means "dog". I'm a little irritated by this. A cat is not a type of dog. (And don't get me started on "虹".)

That was soooo boring. Just a bunch of cats. Hopping from box to box now and then. There they go. And there they go again. Somehow I watched the whole thing. I think I'll watch it again.

I found the Ritual of Gratitude to the God of Cardboard Boxes quite interesting. The elaborate pressed-paws sequence was splendidly performed (in my opinion as an amateur ailourologist).

While 犭 does come from 犬 (hound), this radical is not restricted to dogs but is more of a generic "animal" radical. For example, it shows up in "monkey" (猴), "lion" (獅), "fox" (狐), "wolf" (狼) or even "mammoth" (獁), and in a bunch of words mostly related to cunning, ferocity, hunting and crime... Not so inappropriate for Nature's cutest killer?

Now, in traditional chinese "cat" is actually written 貓 (豸 radical + phonetic 苗 miao). 豸 is used for a range of other animals including leopards, panthers, minks, and badgers. In japanese and simplified chinese, the more accurate 豸 was simplified to 犭in 猫, probably reflecting the fact that people write more often about cats than badgers.

No, the kitty was wringing his little paws because the other cat had left! He was worried! But then more cats came and everyone was happy.
