Swedish prog-rock band Dungen has a wildly mesmerizing new video for a new track called "Franks Kaktus." Join us, if you will, in Cafe Franks Kaktus
a.k.a. "Dungen Discovers Beastie Boys Videos Circa 1989-94."

Nice. Prog-rock sure has changed since the days of Genesis, eh? </old>

I like it, I'm getting a very "Score to Dirty Harry or possibly Magnum Force" vibe.

Fun fact: Dungen is/was basically a one-man multi-instrumentalist show fronted by a Swede who, as a teen, started out in hip-hop. You can't make this stuff up. Great psych rock stuff (the prog label can get a little weird, but yes: prog too).

Guitar player Reine Fisk is well worth looking into.

This is some kind of inverse of those StSanders Santana Shreds videos.

I kind of like the song, but the whole "let's make our music video retro-shitty on purpose" hipster thing has gotten so old, it might actually be due for a whole new wave of retro nostalgia in just a few years (but then it'll probably have RealMedia streaming artifacts and 'BUFFERING' messages in the middle). Seriously, it's the laziest "funny" and "ironic" bullshit shtick imaginable at this point.

Both Bullitt and Dirty Harry were scored by Lalo Schifrin, so that makes sense.
