"You’re so sweet, Bonney. You’re too sweet."

Nathan Fielder, host of Nathan for You, talks to AV Club writer John Teti's mother, who expressed a strong dislike for Fielder on a podcast last year.

"'Nathan had a different idea for the interview we wanted to run by you,' the publicist said. Fielder had heard a Nathan For You review last year on an episode of Mom On Pop, a podcast where I talk about pop culture with my mom, Bonney Teti. Mom did not care for Fielder’s show, nor for Fielder himself, which she made abundantly clear. So rather than a typical interview, Fielder wanted me to moderate a conversation between him and my mom. His goal: convince Mom to like him."

Basder-Meinhof alert! I discovered this show just last night, and loved the first three episodes – – now I wake up to this post.

Fielder is a genius. And a University of Victoria Commerce grad. I love how he deconstructs the "entrepreneurship" babble so well.

I've seen a couple episodes of the show--not a fan. But this interview was great. I wish more people would confront their critics this way, mediated and non-adversarial.

The show makes me uncomfortable, because I'm generally not down with the "unsuspecting partner" comedy, but I still appreciate it and I think his persona's great. This was an interesting conversation.

I love this show even though certain episodes have made me feel uncomfortable in a bad way rather than a good way. However, when the show takes a turn that was not anticipated and Nathan just goes with it there is sometimes gold, like in the first season episode with the rebates that turned into a group confessional on a mountaintop.

I like the show. I find that unlike a lot of this type of comedy, the people he is dealing with all seem to recognize what a tool he is and that his ideas are terrible.

Another terrific interview at the A.V. Club with Dick Van Dyke and a writer's grandmother.
