Afraid to click on the links...Is the cake made of Kate Middleton's handbag, or is the handbag made out of Kate Middleton which is then subsequently used to make a cake? Either way, no thank you.

It is caramel cake with toffee bits, layered with Italian meringue buttercream, and I would happily eat your portion.

The cake inside might be tasty but its covered in layers of so much fondant icing that I fear that is all you would taste.

The cakes can be as tasty as the baker makes them. My wedding gown cake was elaborate, but tasty, because we made a point of finding a baker that wouldn't neglect the taste.
You don't eat the fondant. It's really easy to just carve out the cake and buttercream.

OK, she is awesome, and gives great instructions.
Just eat the cake, not the dowels. Yes!

The precision and techniques used to make these cakes impressed me very much. The finished result on the first link in particular is spectacular (note the pains she goes to give a slight sheen to the fondant so that it looks more like real leather).
Kudos to the bakers.
(There was one video of a guy making a pretty good replica of a Chanel 'Le Boy' purse but his video wasn't that good, so I cut it.)

Much cooler than I had expected. It was a lot like watching a woodworking tutorial. All the knifing of lines and the jigs to keep things consistent. Amazing.

Veblen Bakers. Maybe we should make a Rule 34 for cakes - every aspirational good conceivable has been made into a cake
