Time to slink into the weekend with this chill music video for De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig's 'Manon', starring a gang of imperious Dutch cats, custom scratching posts. Directed by powerhouse creative duo Lennert & Sander.
More Lernert & Sander:
- Artists explain their work to their parents.
- A music video of, ahem, alternative erotica for 'Electrotechnique'.
- 30 minutes of sorting sprinkles by colour
- Applying 365 days worth of makeup in one sitting
- A handmade suit for a hand

Well.
OK.
No.
De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig has some great songs. This is not one of them. Try the one which made them famous all those years ago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjER3EX948w
Chill beat, cool lyrics.
Then there's Shenkie; cool video and the song grows on you:

Or an electronic masterpiece, De formule (the formula):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-W9GCtI2nM
Bonus: Dom Lomp And Famous, a song which loops perfectly and just tickles the fuck out of me as a perfect party number:

Sorry, nerdfish, this song is not in any way an earworm. It has cats in the clip and that's all that might entice people. There is so much better.

The track may not be great but the video, and more importantly, the custom cat furniture, more than makes up for it. Surprised this post didn't get much love here on the blue... have we finally reached peak cat on the internets?

The one that made them famous all those years ago, which was recorded almost literally around the corner from where I lived at the time (A'dam-Noord represent).

And to be honest, this is a perfectly cromulent funk song, hilarious because it's dedicated to what might just be the least sexy Dutch name you can think of.
