The Conjuring Arts Research Center is a research library in Midtown Manhattan with over 12,000 volumes devoted to the arts of magic. They publish a semiannual journal by the name of Gibeciere. And for those who prefer not to wait for the mail, there's Ask Alexander, a searchable database of over 2,500,000 pages of magic instruction.

This is a great coincidence, I'm reading The Magician King right now and I'm just up to the part where Julia's trawling old Usenet boards for hints of magical spells.

Obligatory.

For seriously though this is really cool.

I've always had an interest in sleight of hand, and this is right up my alley.

It's a great resource, but I had to laugh when I read this:
Our pdf based system makes screen reading really easy. Alex’s content is almost entirely made up of high resolution full color scans. This makes reading comfortable and easy.

This does sound like something a Brakebills alum would set up just to fuck with people.

I'm going to guess "The Conjuring Arts Research Center", and if I'm right you must spill details.

No! No! You don't tell him what your guess is. You're supposed to say "OK, I guessed" and he'll tell you what you guessed. So make another guess, but this time don't tell anyone.
