I never put my tongue in one, but I snapped them on my fingers plenty of times as a kid playing around. They sting a bit, but there is no serious force or pain, and your tongue is squishy enough that it would probably hurt less. A rat trap, however, would be no joke at all on either finger or tongue.
(Because I am a big softie, I have always solved mouse problems by converting a kill trap, like the one shown, into a live trap -- you can use the spring trap to power a coffee-can lid, and then release the mouse outdoors. They sell live traps but it is fun to make your own.)
