Six Extinctions in Six Minutes

Six scientists at the American Museum of Natural History explain what we know, and what’s still mysterious, about the disappearance of six different species/genera.
Featuring Ordovician trilobites, Dunkleosteus (a genus of armored fish), Pseudosuchia (relatives of modern crocodiles), Equus scotti (a New World horse), the golden toad, and the guinea worm. A part of AMNH's "Shelf Life" video series featuring lesser-known specimens in its collection. Previously, previouslier.

Aside from reminding me that the Dunkleosteous was once my favorite prehistoric animal, and all the other great information here, this video cleared up what has been a lifelong mystery for me: is 'trilobite 'pronounced TRILL-oh-bite, or TRY-lo-bite. It's the latter.

Great video, but that fucking Guinea Worm coming out of people's limbs. Jesus.
Was going to have spaghetti for dinner.

It used to be TRILL-o-bite in the UK, but lately I've been hearing TRY-lo-bite more and more.

I always thought it was TRY-lo- bite as in 3 lobes.

... the non-avian dinosaurs ...
I love that we have to make this distinction these days.

When I'm too wasted these rocks to clamber
Just lean me on a cliff, and encase me in amber
And a creature from the future in Way-Out-When
Can clock my fossil and name me "Sven"
