Maybe it is because of my eighties stint in a mod band, but the intro with all those arrows and roundels gives me a conditioned reaction to expect some Who music.

I like this, but it's weird how odd the solid purple t-shirt looks in real life. For some reason it's very strange to me.

They did a great job with the Edgar-Wright style quick edits.

This was lovely and such an affectionate homage to the comics.

I confess they lost me at the opening title card.
it should be "hawkeye and ITS characters", not "it's". hawkeye and ITS characters. ITS. ITS. ITS.

The axis of action issues in the opening scene kept me from getting further into it.

bonobo, issues? The only one I see is the quick cut from fridge to counter, and I'm not sure I'd count that.

There's also a thing later on where the guy playing Hawkeye is holding his bowstring all wrong. Like, the most wrong way possible.
But why bail on something for a few minor mistakes? I thought the editing was well-done for an amateur film, beginning with the opening scene of the kitchen, which Clint enters by standing up from below the frame, where he's been presumably rooting around for duck/duct/gaffer's tape in a cabinet. In other places, they used a fast-cut style reminiscent of Edgar Wright, which I like very much. The performance of the actress playing Kate owed a lot, I think, to Aubrey Plaza in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which I would call, in general, a more negative take on Kate Bishop's character and her relation to Clint than existed (most of the time) in the comics. And if I'd made this, Lucky would have gotten some pizza (perhaps in a post-credits scene) and it would have ended with them calling each other Hawkeye, because that's always kind of fun and touching. "Can we go to the thing now, Hawkeye?" "Sure, Hawkeye." And, since clearly you can't go out and find a one-eyed dog, they should have put a bandage on Lucky, too. And, of course, the actor playing Clint was too young for the part. And could they not have worked in a reference to Dog Cops? But really my wish list for a Hawkeye film is kind of like a kid's letter to Santa Claus, wanting everything all at once.
But! The exchange about the bow case was funny. "Will there be a bow in it?" "Of course. What else would I put in a bow case?" Kate's Avengers ID card was good. The occasional interpolations of bits of comics stuff—Clint calculating his ricochet shot, "Unintelligible...maybe Russian?"—were welcome touches. The Lucky POV scene was charming. Touches like the multiple frames of the tracksuit mafia guys were well-done. I mean, the filmmakers thought about editing, shot scenes from a variety of perspectives and distances, wrote decent dialogue that sometimes rose to quite good, did some good Foley work, and overall made an affectionate homage to a much-loved comic that is pleasing in many ways to me, an ardent fan of the Matt Fraction/David Aja Hawkeye.
They made a good movie. Kudos to them.

Yeah, all fan films have shortcomings, but I love the tracksuit dracula pulling a gun and just watching it arc away after Clint sends it flying. (Would that be a John Hughes shot? Felt a little like one, for some reason.)
