I might be ok with our robot overlords if they are all sass-bot sci-fi nerds.

It's weird what will give me hope for the future these days, but this is one of those things.

He reminds me of Weebo from Flubber (the 1997 Robin Williams vehicle/remake of 1961's The Absent-Minded Professor)
Weebo had a voice as well (Jodi Benson, aka Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid), but in retrospect her integration of small bits of video into ordinary conversation was pretty prescient in predicting the coming invasion of reaction GIFs, image macros, and emojis into our everyday conversaion.

"His responses can be a little spunky" isn't a phrase I was expecting to hear in this context.

Mind you, I had an RS Media running a custom Bender voice set, but that wasn't SNARKY, per se. Just sort of, well, abusive. Plus it's ass was shiny, but made of plastic.

At some point in the next 30 years, this dude is going to be standing behind a robot that's basically a giant spider made entirely of gatling guns that's just taken out a bleacher full of dignitaries and will end up saying this exact sentence again.

I haven't looked at the code. What is the degree to which the natural language understanding is open-source and implemented on the bot? My suspicion is that this is just calling in to some kind of corporate service to listen and parse your words, which then sends cooked output back to you to decide what to do with.
Cuz I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.
But I do *not* welcome our old corporate overlords.
