M.U.S.C.L.E. Revisited.

M.U.S.C.L.E. Revisited. I used to collect all of these pink plastic wrestling figures and now i-mockery has finished the big task of giving names and profiles to all of the original figures. 233 to be exact. Great retro memories for me on this one. Some really bizarre (ie: "Klondular the Barnacle Muncher "), yet extremely funny descriptions for some of these figures. There's also a Mr. Blocky tribute in there. I always hated him though since he made one of the prongs in my ring snap off. He was just too fat.

I collected these too, but I don't really recall what my motivation was. Most likely it was sheer manpower for the famed "Trent's Bedroom Wars of 1985-6". Why waste my allowance on just one G.I. Joe when I could buy an entire elite, bodyslammin' platoon of M.U.S.C.L.E. malcontents? I eventually learned that accessorizing was all the rage, meaning that Snake-Eyes and his dog could wipe out an entire M.U.S.C.L.E. regiment with one foul swoop of his included machine gun. Good times...

Wasn't there a short-lived associated cartoon as well?

Didn't they used to come in a little clear plastic trash can? Maybe my fuzzy memories are mixed up.

Indeed they did, LionIndex (Click on "See the Muscle Toyline" and then "The MUSCLE 10-pack").

ttrendel, kids don't need motivation to collect toys, no matter how goofy and made-on-the-cheap they are. I had all but forgotten these things. I don't remember when I collected them myself, though it was most likely between my He-Man and G.I. phases. G.I. Joe, I found, were more fun because with a small screwdriver I could take them apart, swap heads and arms and legs, and create my own characters. God, I was pathetic.

193 was my favorite, he fought on the lego team against my brothers's evil army :)

I used to have the MUSCLE belt too, you could wear it and store figures in it. I couldn't even fit that thing around my waist these days!

I used to have some of these. I'd almost forgotten about them until I saw this link.

What a super-cool line of toys. I'm going to be reading this page all day.

My friends and I made a ring with a wooden canvas, nails as ring posts, and rubber bands for the ropes. I forget the rules for wrestling tho, but these were tons of fun one summer.
