Meet Nazo Dharejo: The toughest woman in Sindh.
The story of how she and her sisters held off 200 bandits was profiled in 2012 by a Pakistani newspaper, and has now become the basis for the film My Pure Land(trailer) , billed as a feminist western and becoming the first Urdu-language film to be submitted by Britain to the Foreign Language Film category of the Academy Awards.

And having now read the first link on the computer - what an impressive woman. Is that piece like the recent one on Dwayne the Rock? Starting the process of moving towards the big political time...

“No one ever saw a tear in our eyes,” recalls Nazo.

I think she was hoping to run for a seat in the provincial legislature, but it's not clear to me whether she got a ticket to run. She isn't on the provincial assembly. Elections were in 2013. Next year is an election year. It would be interesting to see if she still had political aspirations. The hold of the PPP is pretty firm in rural Sindh.
