L7, the all women punk rock group, have released their first single in 18 years... 'Dispatch From Mar-a-Lago'.
The band started playing again recently and there was a documentary L7: Pretend We're Dead about their early years
Natural Born Killers
L7’s Donita Sparks: ‘Is David Cameron a Tory? Shit. They’re back?’
Their notorious appearance on The Word (NSFW)

Sweet, another band on my list of 90's Bands I Was Slightly Too Young (Or Not Nearly Cool Enough) For. I just saw the Afghan Whigs, who were #1 on that list, for the second time - hopefully I can check L7 off the list too.

I was fond of "Hungry for Stink," despite having heard from multiple people that they were total jerks in person.

You know, when you hear stuff like this, you should consider the fact that a) they're women, and therefore anything less than Gidget-level friendliness is "a bitch" or "difficult" b) they're women, which means a near-constant assault on boundaries, safety, physical body parts, and the ability to do business and get paid without getting scammed or violated. Sometimes being Gidget just isn't an option.
Benefit of the doubt, or at least less of a rush to share this piece of information when given the opportunity, might be a thing here.

That The Word link is a time portal back to 1992.

Hey they once raffled off a night in the tour bus with the drummer... what could be friendly than that?

As a data point I met them when they did a signing at the record store I worked at in the early 90s and they were all very nice to me! Doing that sort of thing can be a total slog, you're on tour and exhausted and often broke and hungry and a lot of artists saved up all their friendliness to use on the fans who came to the in-stores (and some of them didn't even save any for that). So I always noticed and appreciated when the visiting artists were nice to the store staff.

I had never heard of L7, but, having recently been playing "Wooly Bully", I was at least aware of the term.

It rules that I had to watch a L'Oreal ad before consuming punk rock.

L7! They're the band in the punk club scene in the movie Serial Mom, except they performed under the name "Camel Lips"...

This is exactly what I needed today. Though I am going to need some counter-evidence to my theory that we are in some alternate timeline version of the 90's real soon.

Veruca Salt are touring Australia next year. Babes in Toyland are still around. I like that this part of the 90s is happening again.

They fucking ROCK and who gives a shit.
Right? Jesus I would give this a month's worth of favorites if I could. Can anyone feature a post about a male punk band where one of the the first comments was basically "I heard they're mean!"

"I don't know, Butthead, but anyone from L7 could kick all of their asses!"

Oh right. Fugazi. I just remember a drunk guy in the stands holloering "Ian!! Ian!!!" and Ian MacKaye stopped the whole show to stare at the dude and then said "You sir are a fucking idiot"
Oh hey and thanks to the internet I can find the exact date/time of the show. And listen to it! Alas not the L7 part, I don't think.
