In high school in the early 90s, I had a Coltrane CD of indeterminate origin. I can't remember the title, but the cover was black and gold, and it appeared to be a low budget best of compilation that one would find in the cutout bin. However, there was a live performance of A Love Supreme on there and I'm 99% certain that this is it. Unfortunately my copy of the CD is long gone. Thanks for sharing!

I've listened to A Love Supreme countless times on CD. I've been immersed in it many times at St. John's African Orthodox Church in San Francisco. It's always revelatory. This video is beautiful.
I try to refrain from smothering music in accolades and laudation, but if this particular arrangement of musicians doesn't qualify as legendary, then I guess nobody does.

I trust everyone saw the Independent Lens documentary Chasing Trane on PBS?

one day after Bob Dylan tore sh** up at the Newport Folk Fest. The zeitgeist was busy that week.

Just realised the Discogs page says it's from 2002 but I could have sworn I owned it earlier than that.
