They already exceeded their initial goal. If you're in NYC and want to buy some in person, they're stationed at Kellogg's NYC Cafe at Union Square 4-6 p.m. Friday and 2-4 p.m. Saturday. You can also donate directly to Girl Scouts in NYC shelters from the drop-down menu on this page (via).

I believe Troop 6000 is also using the Scout Digital Cookie platform, for online sales.

Thanks Iris, I was wondering. I was just thinking I wanted some more cookies..but I'm not local. Doesn't matter! Cookies on the way!

Samoas Inbound!!! Thanks, Iris Gambol, for posting that link.

I'm all for the cash donation angle here. The actual amount the girls get from cookie sales is really low. This year in my daughter's troop it was 18%.

Rock on, Troop 6000!

Mod note: If we want to talk about the effectiveness of this kind of thing, that’s fine, but put the effort into writing a comment or contextualizing a link. Thanks.

GASP

THEY HAVE THE VEGAN THIN MINTS

All Thin Mints are vegan - both Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers. (Also, ABC Bakers' Lemonades, Thanks-A-Lot, S'mores, and Peanut Butter Patties are all vegan. But Troop 6000 is in a council that uses Little Brownie.)

This is great and that's my city council member right there in the middle of the pic.

looks like the 'donate boxes' option comes with free shipping

it's quite the steal ;)

I’m heading over to make a donation after writing this. If the page shows a “this site uses cookies” pop up I will squeal with joy.

Thank you for this touching and inspiring post.
But dear god, 100,000 homeless children in New York City.
I just hang my head in shame.

...100,000 homeless children...

This is one shitty society we live in.

Part of me wants to just send a cash donation.
But Thin Mints!
There would be less guilt with only buying one box of cookies and a donation in the amount of the cost of the second box.
And fewer calories!

There. All rationalized. Where's my charge card?

update i am suing the girl scouts for my emotional damage caused by eating 2 full sleeves of thin mints

My box arrived today, and the thin mints went straight into the freezer.

> the thin mints went straight into the freezer

Now that cookie season is over and I don't have to smile and nod at all the customers and their insanity, I must ask: WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS. Just eat them! EAT THEM.

because they taste really good cold? it's okay if you feel differently but uh. some people like that?

Yep, better frozen. I prefer refrigerated Samoas to room temperature ones, too.

Harumph. I shall try to be more open minded. I thought all you freezer people were storing them to eat later.
