Amsterdam's Bridge Houses Become Tiny Hotel Rooms

From the 1600s to the 2000s, these structures helped control the canals. Now they've become redundant and a hotel company has begun modifying them into hotel rooms, each different, each alluring.

This is the homepage of the Sweets Hotel that has the bridge house rooms. The page has a link to each of the rooms with a link to explore its setting.

I’d worry that people would be constantly knocking on the door and asking for help with their damned boat.

I'm pretty sure no one was knocking on the door asking for help before they became hotel rooms. Not sure why they would start now. They're also up on bridges. They aren't exactly easy to get to from a broken boat.

You could lower a clog on a string to collect money for use of the lock.

Excellent, we were planning to visit friends living in the Netherlands later this year. I'm definitely going to try to book a couple nights in one of these.

These are so cute both in concept and in reality but I think the constant traffic sounds of cars passing over the bridge would make me hurl myself into the sea.

I like these. For folks of enhanced stature, a few of these seems like a tight fit.

It being Amsterdam, it seems that a number of the bridges in question only have pedestrian/bicycle traffic on them only, though.

Adorable, but walls o' windows and shower stalls are the exact opposite of what I look for in hotel accommodations.

I’m planning to visit Amsterdam early next year, and these look fabulous, especially for people traveling alone. Thanks for posting this!

Apologies, but none of those appear to be on pedestrian/bicycle only bridges. Nor are pedestrian/bicycle only bridges relatively common.

Sorry again. I went to the website. #310 is.

These are cool, but isn't the price point fairly comparable to a lot of the 5 star hotels? I would have expected these to be more in line with a 3 star hotel. Also, browsing through the pictures has made me miss Amsterdam. It's such an amazing city.

So neat!

If I had the money, I'd travel to Amsterdam, and try to spend at least a night in each one while exploring all over the place.
