Hexxagon

Hexxagon, yeah, so its not friday flash, but it's sure a good way to waste a few hours on a tuesday afternoon or a wednesday morning. great game with some real strategy involved.
Curious, since this was one of my fave games, back in college, on my IBM PC Convertible (8086 @ 4 whole Mhz) and CGA...hopefully I have a fast enough PC to play this flash port...

Too easy, even if you play randomly and only think one move ahead.. More difficulty levels would be nice.. And faster animations too (ooh, fussy..)

Mossy - I'm glad I'm not playing against you. I have reached the conclusion that the only way to win is not to play.

Who here used to play Ataxx in the arcades?
This page has a listing of Ataxx/Hexxagon variants for a number of platforms.

Griffx - Same here. Maybe Mossy is playing in the human v. human mode?

It seemed to be easiest to me when I didn't know how the pieces moved or took each other - won easily. Once I'd figured that out how to play I lost a swift series of games with ease. Very subtle.

Nah, on further perusal it appears I am a lucky bastard :-) Either that or the blue one is learning - after the first three easy games, it went to 28-29 and is now soundly kicking my ass - I was leading 17-3 and it ended up wiping me out. D'oh. It now leads 3-2, the bastard..
Hmm MUD, maybe we should just rely on our natural Hexxagonical skillz instead of trying to outthink a computer? Lets have a go..
3-3 Hoho. 3 minutes. And no crunchland, I'm pretty certain I haven't been playing in human vs human mode, it gets kinda dull waiting for the opposing move when you're playing that..

Yeah, my exposure to this game was also in the Arcade as Ataxx, it was fun then. But I must agree with squinky the very cutesy animation slows the game speed down to unbearable. It needs to move quick to be fun for more than five minutes after you catch on to the gameplay and strategies.

Ataxx is a little more fun, IMO, as you're 150% as vulnerable in Hexxagon as you are in Ataxx. I could at least match the CPU in that game... Here, the machine seems to be at least two turns ahead of me.

I quit well before the game ended-- you can't play fast enough.
